ERT S.A. (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation) is a public company whose mission, as set by Law 1730/87, is to provide radio and television services that contribute towards informing, educating and entertaining Greeks in Greece, as well as overseas.
ERT's mission is the development of public broadcasting and television by producing quality and prestigious programmes, which promote unbiased and complete information, freedom of speech and entertainment, while safeguarding the Greek history and language, developing the Greek and international culture, and combating xenophobia and racism.
Furthermore, ERT plays an important role in the cultural affairs of Greece, with a variety of activities, such as running the Archive Museum and the Musical Ensembles, issuing publications, and supporting Greek cinematography.
ERT S.A. has been assigned with the task of providing radio and television services for the public interest, thus differentiating it from the rest of the radio and television bodies.
