Live
Snapshots coming directly from Lixuri (the Ferry Terminal) a quiet and friendly city (with a population of
3,000 inhabitants) situated south on Paliki peninsula, of which is the capital. It is surrounded by mountains and built around a port. The harbour area is alive with boats and motors departing to Argostoli. The biggest part of
Lixuri was destroyed by the earthquake of 1953 and is therefore rebuild with wide streets. Worth visiting is the library and the icon museum (on the coastal side in an old mansion which was survived the earthquake).
The main square is 'Platia Ethnikis Antistasis' and is surrounded by many cafes and bars, full of animation. On this lively square are also hosted some nice festivals.
The inhabitants of Lixuri are famous for their musical capacities and the
town has one of the oldest and most important orchestras of Greece.
In the area of Lixuri one can find some of the most beautiful beaches of the island such as Lepeda, Xi and Mega Lakos, as well as some interesting and lovely churches.
