Georgios Ioannides - Founder and Managing Director

Greek shipping, the most dynamic business sector and caterer of the country’s economic development, maintaining its leading position in the international scene, contributes significantly, both directly and indirectly, to the effort of the global community to successfully manage these challenges.

Shipping remains the most cost-effective mode for the transport of raw materials, products and people and constitutes an important source of income for developing countries. Activities such as ships’ registration, employment of human workforce, ship-building/ repairing and port services, contribute to the economic development by improving the standards of living and bringing prosperity to these countries. Moreover, in a number of occasions in recent years, shipping provided immediate assistance to communities that suffered from natural disasters by offering ships for temporary accommodation of people in need.

His network with the Live Cams is certainly evidence of a highly productive mind.

He is also the developer of the Navis.gr Web Site. Developing the Navis.gr has been like giving birth. Even though the information within is second nature to him, the process of putting it together into a Web Site, was the tough part. He dedicated a lot of research, time and energy to the creation of Navis.gr Web Site.

Hundreds of thousands of people dream of taking a cruise. But only a few of them will ever set foot on a luxury liner. And yet there are men and women of all ages and with vastly different skills and experience who have secured enviable positions working on cruise ships. Tourism generally is fast becoming the world's largest industry and cruising is one of its most rapidly expanding sectors.
Many modern cruise ships are simply mobile leisure resorts with casinos, cinemas, swimming pools, fitness centres, lecture halls and even golf courses, so the range of jobs is enormous.
There are the well-documented opportunities for travel to all corners of the globe, from Alaska to Spitzbergen or Bermuda to Hawaii, and under the glorious sunsets of the Caribbean and Mediterranean. Not so well documented are the long hours and hard work, but for me it has all been worthwhile.

Magic Fjords of NorwayMagic Fjords of Norway [+] You can travel the world over without ever finding anything close to the breathtaking landscape nestled between the west coast of Norway and the towering mountains inland. The landscape of Fjord Norway slowly emerged from the sea as the vast glacier made its gradual retreat six thousand years ago. The signs of this great creative process are all around. In May and early June, Fjord Norway is in full splendour. The snow still stretches its white arms almost down to the fjord side, and it is often difficult to distinguish between the actual landscape and its mirror image in the calm fjord waters. 'Navis.gr' shows you a small selection from around the fjords of west Norway.

GREENLAND - The Iceberg Collection.GREENLAND - The Iceberg Collection [+] Virtually immobile, they sit there. Like sleeping ice mammoths. Both impressive and awe-inspiring. You see it in all forms, icebergs, glaciers and inland ice, which in all their might and power tower high make everything around them seem small. Standing in a line, steep, unapproachable and majestic. Innumerable glacier tongues calving enormous icebergs in fantastic colours, shapes and forms. They are almost motionless, resting here like giant ice mammoths. Elegant, yet terrifying at the same time. If you stand close by, the size is overwhelming. They rise as tall as huge towers over the ships. The rays of the sun split, reflecting every shade known to Man: blue, white, turquoise and, in places, nearly crystal-clear.

North PoleNorth Pole [+] Under the magnificent polar sky, halfway between the North Pole and mainland Norway, lies the island kingdom of Svalbard. The 63,000 square kilometres of Arctic expanse, fjords and glaciers is an exotic, untamed and magnificent travel destination.
For many who visit Svalbard it is the Arctic light that is the most impressive whether experienced on a clear polar night with sparkling stars and dancing Northern Lights, or on a snow-covered April landscape bathed in the midnight sun.
The nature here is wild and beautiful, but at the same time very fragile. The rich flora and fauna must survive grueling weather conditions. So all travel and other activities take place on nature's terms - no damage must be done to the environment. All visitors must therefore exercise the utmost care while visiting Svalbard!

Venice, Italy: The beauty of this Living MuseumVenice, Italy: The beauty of this Living Museum [+] It's more like a marvellous film-set than a real live city, with its criss-crossing canals, gondolas and water buses, arched bridges, palaces and little quiet piazzas. Still enclosed by ancient ramparts the town with its narrow streets and steep steps has changed little since the Middle Ages.

Athens, Hellas: The Birthplace of Western CivilizationAthens, Hellas: The Birthplace of Western Civilization [+] Everyone knows about the Hellenic sites that make Athens unique in Europe. Within the glades of Zappion Park is the ancient Temple of the Olympian Zeus. The Herodes Atticus theatre is still used for the dance and music performances of Festival of Athens. And of course, there's the Majestic Parthenon, enjoying its superlative view from atop the Acropolis. But you shouldn't neglect the city's more modern sights, such as Parliament, where the Evzone Guards march daily, and Monastiraki Square, a busy shopping area offering everything from fine woolens to copies of icons. The city's excellent museums contain Mycenean gold, graceful sculptures from the Golden Age, Byzantine icons, and tokens from the Greek struggle for independence. When the Greeks set out for a lively session of dancing and music, they head for the Plaka, a quaint old neighborhood below the Acropolis.

The Impressive 'State Hermitage' Museum in St. Petersburg, RussiaThe Impressive 'State Hermitage' Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia [+] The State Hermitage occupies six magnificent buildings situated along the embankment of the River Neva, right in the heart of St Petersburg. The leading role in this unique architectural ensemble is played by the Winter Palace, the residence of the Russian tsars that was built to the design of Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli in 1754-62. This ensemble, formed in the 18th and 19th centuries, is extended by the eastern wing of the General Staff building, the Menshikov Palace and the recently constructed Repository. Put together throughout two centuries and a half, the Hermitage collections of works of art (over 3,000,000 items) present the development of the world culture and art from the Stone Age to the 20th century.
